Door stopper II

Keeps the door open even during draught
Author: Patrick Vultier, Switzerland
I made a practical door stopper with your magnets. I know that there is already a similar application, but mine is maybe even simpler. Also, my version doesn't require drilling a hole in the wall.

Material used:

  • 1 rubber door stopper (can be found behind most doors)
  • 1 power drill
  • 1 piece nylon string
  • Strong double-sided adhesive tape
  • 1 R-10-04-05-N ring magnet

  1. Remove the door stopper from the wall and carefully drill a hole of approx. 3 mm in it. Be careful: Drill slowly and use protective gloves!
  2. Thread the string through the hole and make a big knot on the other side.
  3. Use the double-sided adhesive tape to glue the door stopper at the same spot on the wall again.
  4. Knot the ring magnet to the free end of the string.
That's it! Now I can let the magnet snap onto the small iron-work and keep the door open. This construction withstands even strong winds, but when you pull on the string, the magnet comes off easily.
