Our take: A original, practical and creative application.
Hans-Peter Canziani from Zurich in Switzerland solved a typical summer problem. And it doesn't take much: A roll of textile tape, a flat iron bar (from the hardware store) mounted to the ceiling and for each cushion one of our block magnets (Q-20-10-02-N).

Mini supermagnet can hold own weight times 5 000!
How small of a magnet can you produce? One so small that it is barely visible to the naked eye. As a custom-made order we had produced discs with D=1,0 and H=0,5 mm as well as cubes with an edge length of 0,8 mm. The production of such tiny magnets is elaborate and expensive, because most of a block magnet (40 x 60 x 80 mm) is «sawed up» to splinter.
Recently we added a 1 mm block magnet, the W-01-N, to our standard assortment.
Cube magnet (1 mm; W-01-N)
This really tiny magnet does the astonishing: Its own weight is 0.0076 g. We measured an adhesive force of approx. 37 g. So this mini cube can hold nearly 5 000 times its own weight!
Impressive, yes, but the question regarding a useful application remains. We asked our customers and gained interesting insights: The W-01-N does its duty, for instance, as a «door arrester» on a locket or for movable limbs of 4 cm figurines in model making.

Impressive, yes, but the question regarding a useful application remains. We asked our customers and gained interesting insights: The W-01-N does its duty, for instance, as a «door arrester» on a locket or for movable limbs of 4 cm figurines in model making.
Nevertheless, we wanted to dig deeper, continued our thought process and came up with an impressive comparison: It would take a propulsive force of no less than 133 Airbus A380 to get all of our magnets in stock off a metal wall.
How did we come to this conclusion? The four engines of an Airbus A380-800 have a static propulsive force (at sea level) of approx. 1 350 kN (=kilonewton), which translates into a propulsive force of more than 137 tons.
