FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions (and their answers!)

Which magnets are suitable for keeping (closet) doors open and closed?

Keeping it open

Magnets can help keeping a door or a window open, despite a draft.
1st possibility: Screw a countersunk pot magnet into the wall and another magnet onto the handle. Exact instructions are documented in the customer application Door stopper.
2nd possibility: If the strike plate is magnetic, a ring magnet on a string can keep the door open. Exact instructions are documented in the customer application Door stopper II.

Closing it

If a door doesn't close properly, countersunk pot magnets and counterparts can be attached in the closet. You can find exact documentation in the customer applications Closing the cupboard door and Closing a closet door II.
You can find all our customer applications on the topic "closing" here.
You can find a list of all our customer applications with our practical countersunk pot magnets here.
If you use pot magnets, we recommend our metal disc with countersunk borehole (M-23) as a counterpart: It is circular like the pot magnets and thanks to the countersunk borehole, the screw head can be countersunk flush. Therefore, it is better suitable than a regular iron washer.
Unfortunately, you can't use a second pot magnet as a counterpart. Why that is is explained in our FAQ Why can't I place two pot magnets flush on top of each other?.
