The catch is 22,3 mm long with a 4,5 mm diameter. The holding power is about 400 grams.
Please note: This clasp has no loops to attach a jewellery wire or silver thread onto, it just has a bore hole on both sides (4 mm in diameter and 4 mm deep), into which the end of the bracelet or necklace can be glued. Both amateur and professional jewellery-makers will already be familiar with this principle which is also used for conventional high-quality jewellery clasps.
About 0,7 mm of the Supermagnet protrudes on one side and the counterpart is as a result slightly countersunk in the tube.
The magnet was glued into place with a twp component adhesive (made by the company UHU) which is hardened through a special heating procedure that makes it hold even better.
Unlike cheap imports from Asia, this article is produced by using solid V2A rods, not by pressure die-casting or by using simple metal sheets. The magnets used are of course supermagnets!
This magnetic clasp is made out of high quality V2A stainless steel on a high-precision, computer-operated turning lathe.
The end of the bracelet or necklace should be glued into here. The bore hole has been roughened inside so that the glue will hold better.
For test purposes we have glued metal hooks onto the end of the clasp (which is of course not a viable solution for real jewellery!). As you can see from the picture, the magnetic clasp can hold a heavy glass bead chain without a problem.
